Autistic People,
For some multitasking is not a difficult job, but not for Autistic People.
The study found a multitasking job will be difficult enough challenge
for Autistic People.
Studies conducted by the Indian
researcher reveals people with autism will find it difficult to do
multitasking because they tend to be rigid to perform the tasks
sequentially.
In this study, researchers gave the students a series of tasks, such
as collecting and delivering
books and make a cup of hot chocolate
that everything must be done within 8 minutes. This activity is
conducted in a virtual
environment generated by computer.
Researchers found students did not deviate from the sequence of tasks
that are listed, but they violate several rules of the task.
The study was led by Dr. Gnanathusharan Rajendran, as a lecturer in Psychology at Strathclyde,
and involves researchers from the
University of Edinburgh
and Liverpool John Moores
University.
“Students with autism can finish well when given a task, but
difficulties will arise when he is asked to perform several tasks at the
same time,” said Dr. Rajendran, as quoted by
Medindia.
Dr. Rajendran said that this study represents the first time using a virtual
environment, so they can more closely in check and see the
possibilities behind the problem is. “Our research shows that the
real problem in young people with autism who do multitasking, and more
research is needed to find solutions that possible,” he
said.
