Leg one of the most odor in the human body. Not surprising since there are 1 trillionBacteria lodged in the foot and added with excessive sweat that comes out when people use footwear. Generally the skin of human feet can produce sweat more than the skin of other body parts. This is because the skin of the feet have more sweat glands. There are about 250,000 sweat glands found on a pair of human feet.
Foot odor is usually caused by sweaty feet causing bacteria can grow rapidly, because the moist environment is an optimal place for bacterial growth. There are about one trillion bacteria found in each foot, as reported by Healthmad.
The use of shoes in the long term can make the dead skin cells accumulate in enclosed spaces with sweat. In such conditions, fungi and bacteria can multiply and the body that cause odor and infections.
There are several steps can be done to overcome excessive sweating and smelly feet, namely:
  • Washing your feet daily with warm water and antibacterial soap, then dry feet thoroughly, especially between the fingers using a soft dry cotton towel.
  • Using a shoe spray designed to reduce odor and prevent the accumulation of bacteria and fungi
  • Using a foot powder to keep feet to stay dry
  • Using the thick socks that can absorb sweat and help vent the foot
  • Using the socks are made from 100 percent cotton or wool, and avoid socks and stockings of synthetic material (polyester or nylon) because it could aggravate the problem
  • If there is still excessive sweating, then change socks several times a day
  • Using a shoe with good ventilation and avoid plastic or nylon shoes. If you’re not using the shoes, let your free foot and exposed to air.
Not only in the leg, according to Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) in Maryland, there are about 2-5 pounds (1 to 2.26 kg) of bacteria that live inside the human body.
Bacteria come in a variety of good and bad, or rather can help or harm the human body. While great attention is given in bad bacteria because it has the potential to create disease, humans have a symbiotic relationship with various types of bacteria needed helpers.
Some bacteria are essential to our survival, like that found in the intestines. HHMI reported that the largest concentration of bacteria in the human body is found in the intestines, which can help make the task of digestion.
