Turmeric is not just a cooking ingredient, but far from the yellow turmeric health benefits and healing store. Turmeric can also help relieve symptoms of migraines and headaches.
Turmeric is known by the Latin name of Curcuma domestica, which is a native medicinal plants of Southeast Asia that grows well in Indonesia. The content of yellow dye (curcumin) is widely used in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for various disorders, including headaches and migraines.
Migraine typically occurs when nerves in the brain become inflamed, causing changes in blood flow. Curcumin has been widely used as traditional medicine several conditions caused by inflammatory changes (inflammation), including arthritis, fibromyalgia, uveitis, headaches and migraines.
Although there is no data showing turmeric effectively treat migraine, but a study published in Rheumatology showed that curcumin in turmeric can reduce inflammation by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-2 and prevents the production of prostaglandins, as reported by LIVESTRONG.
Migraine sufferers may experience warning signs of a migraine headache before it even begins. This warning is called the prodrome and may involve changes in bowel habits, neck stiffness, changes in mood or feelings ofdepression. Prodrome may be a signal in people with migraine to immediately consume turmeric.
Site Home Remedies recommends adding a teaspoon of turmeric with a glass of water and drink before bed. Pure curcumin can also be purchased in powdered form in capsules in health stores or food, usually 400 to 500 mg of curcumin in each capsule.
Turmeric or curcumin are considered safe when used in small amounts, according to Medline Plus. However, this drug should not be consumed for pregnant and lactating women because it can aggravate gallbladder problems. Curcumin also be used with caution before or after surgery because it can slow blood clotting.
